Waste, Transformed.

We started with Renew, now we’re joining forces with Nike to transform waste into an eccentric new articulation of the Chuck Taylor All Star - The Chuck Taylor All Star Crater. Fusing Nike’s Space Hippie innovation with Converse’s Chuck Taylor DNA, every element is reworked to redesign an all-time classic for a waste-less future. Incorporating repurposed rubber offcuts, this radical reimagining of our classic sole is lower carbon impact, lightweight and responsive. Perfectly imperfect and made with at least 40 percent recycled content by total weight, it’s one of our most sustainable sneakers yet.

Details

  • Canvas-feel like upper made from a blend of recycled polyester and post-industrial waste scraps, putting old materials to new use.
  • 100% recycled webbing and mesh liner, 85% recycled eyestay and toecap.
  • Crater Foam sole uses about 12% Nike Grind rubber for a lightweight and responsive feel during all day wear.
  • 20% recycled cushioned OrthoLite sockliner.

    Chuck Taylor All Star Origins

Created in 1917 as a non-skid basketball shoe, the All Star was originally promoted for its superior court performance by basketball mastermind Chuck Taylor. But over the decades, something incredible happened: The sneaker, with its timeless silhouette and unmistakable ankle patch, was organically adopted by rebels, artists, musicians, dreamers, thinkers and originals.
